Effective September 15, 2026
Subscription Terms
1. Version and express consent
These Subscription Terms take effect on the effective date shown when activated by CoverageCases. Starting Checkout requires affirmative assent to the current platform and subscription document sets and express authorization of the displayed recurring charge. A material revision requires fresh affirmative assent; prior assent remains preserved, and passive account ownership does not record assent.
2. Individual subscription, initial charge, and renewal
CoverageCases costs $9.99 USD per month, plus any applicable tax. Each subscription covers only the individually registered and verified attorney who purchases it. CoverageCases offers no firm-wide, pooled, unlimited-firm, or one-subscription-for-multiple-attorneys plan.
Live CoverageCases Checkout offers no free trial. The first monthly charge for the selected plan is made immediately after successful authorization, and the same amount automatically renews monthly until canceled. Stripe processes the payment. CoverageCases stores provider customer, subscription, price, status, receipt, and limited billing identifiers, not complete payment-card or bank-account numbers.
CoverageCases — $9.99 per month. You will be charged $9.99 today, plus applicable taxes, and automatically charged $9.99 each month until you cancel. You may cancel through Account → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. Payments are nonrefundable except as stated in the Refund Policy or required by law. By clicking ‘Subscribe for $9.99/month,’ you authorize these recurring charges, accept the Terms of Service and Subscription Terms, and acknowledge the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.
3. Subscription access
Exact active status on the individually purchased CoverageCases subscription is required for every marketplace participant to browse or filter open opportunities, post a hearing, or accept coverage. Trialing, past_due, unpaid, canceled, and every other status do not grant new marketplace access. There is no administrator or firm exemption when an administrator or firm attorney participates in the marketplace.
CoverageCases includes the core verified profile, posting, acceptance, basic county alerts, search, platform payment tools, coverage history, basic calendar, reputation profile, and standard support made available by the current product. No plan controls an attorney's professional judgment, and subscription price is not the sole matching factor.
Account, Identity, legal, privacy, billing, and existing-engagement wind-down functions remain available only as separately described. A subscription does not establish Identity approval, official-record matching, current eligibility, or entitlement to any particular engagement.
4. Plan changes
CoverageCases offers one subscription at $9.99 per month. Existing subscription and accepted-terms records remain preserved. No existing subscription is silently migrated or repriced; any change to an existing subscription requires the applicable disclosed terms and affirmative authorization. Cancellation remains available through Account → Billing.
5. Cancellation
Cancel through Account → Billing, which opens the Stripe-hosted billing portal. Cancellation stops the next automatic renewal and takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. Payments are nonrefundable except as stated in the Refund Policy or required by law. An existing billing customer retains portal and cancellation access even when marketplace access is restricted.
CoverageCases may schedule cancellation or restrict marketplace activity when an account is denied, suspended, deactivated, closing, stale on required assent, fully refunded for its current paid period, or otherwise ineligible. Those actions do not decide rights under a separate attorney engagement.
6. Failed payments and subscription refunds
There is no marketplace grace period after Stripe reports a status other than exact active. CoverageCases may review a subscription refund or adjustment for a duplicate, unauthorized, demonstrably erroneous, legally required, or documented courtesy exception. Paid periods are not routinely refundable or prorated. A full refund of all current-period payment evidence revokes current-period marketplace access; access is restored only after authoritative active, unrefunded payment evidence.
CoverageCases detects duplicate active subscriptions for the same attorney, retains one canonical subscription, and may cancel and fully refund the duplicate's initial paid invoice through the documented reconciliation process. An ambiguous provider result remains pending for reconciliation and is not treated as a completed refund.
7. Fixed posting fees
A posting attorney must authorize the exact fixed CoverageCases posting fee shown before publication: $5.00 standard when the hearing is more than 48 hours away; $9.00 when it is within 48 hours but more than 24 hours away; $15.00 when it is within 24 hours but not on the same courthouse-local calendar day; or $25.00 when it is on that same courthouse-local calendar day. The server classifies urgency from the hearing start, publication time, and courthouse time zone and revalidates the current fixed-price schedule before Checkout and publication.
The posting fee pays for CoverageCases marketplace publication and distribution and is separate from the compensation offered to the covering attorney. It is never calculated from or deducted from attorney compensation, a client's legal fee, an hourly rate, case value, or outcome. CoverageCases uses no percentage commission or Stripe application fee on attorney compensation.
These terms do not authorize a successful-placement fee, referral reward, attorney-compensation charge, connected-attorney payment, transfer, or payout. Any future fixed placement fee would require separate legal clearance, a new hash-bound document version, exact owner approval, and fresh attorney assent before activation.
8. Contact
Subscription and fixed platform-charge questions may be sent to admin@coveragecases.com. Do not send complete payment-card or bank-account numbers.
Refund Policy
Starting and renewing paid service
No live free trial is offered. A valid payment method is required, and the first selected individual subscription charge is immediate when Stripe Checkout completes successfully: $9.99 USD for CoverageCases, plus any applicable tax. The selected subscription renews automatically each month until canceled.
Canceling or changing an individual subscription
Cancel through Account → Billing, which opens the Stripe-hosted billing portal. Cancellation stops the next automatic renewal and takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. Payments are nonrefundable except as stated in the Refund Policy or required by law. An existing billing customer retains portal and cancellation access even when marketplace access is restricted.
Subscription refunds and failed payment
Paid subscription periods are not routinely refundable and are not prorated. CoverageCases may approve a manual refund or adjustment for a duplicate, unauthorized, demonstrably erroneous, legally required, or documented courtesy exception. Contact admin@coveragecases.com with the account email, charge date, and a nonconfidential explanation; do not send complete payment credentials.
A status other than exact active immediately blocks new marketplace use. A full refund of all payment evidence for the current period revokes current-period marketplace access. Billing-portal, cancellation, legal, privacy, and limited existing-engagement wind-down access remain only as separately described.
Fixed posting-fee cancellation and refunds
The posting attorney sees and authorizes the exact fixed posting fee before Checkout and publication: $5.00 standard, $9.00 within 48 hours, $15.00 within 24 hours, or $25.00 on the same courthouse-local calendar day. The fee becomes earned when CoverageCases publishes and distributes the request. Later withdrawal, hearing cancellation, rescheduling, nonacceptance, or failure to fill ordinarily does not create a refund.
If a fixed posting fee is successfully charged but CoverageCases does not publish and distribute the request, CoverageCases will issue or review a full refund. After publication, CoverageCases may still approve a full refund for a duplicate, unauthorized, demonstrably erroneous, legally required, or documented courtesy exception. Partial percentage-based refunds and cancellation charges tied to attorney compensation are not offered. A completed full posting-fee refund revokes paid publication and new acceptance while preserving the immutable accounting and refund record.
Attorney engagement compensation is excluded
This policy covers only CoverageCases individual software subscriptions and fixed platform posting fees. CoverageCases does not collect, refund, prorate, adjudicate, enforce, deduct from, or take a share of compensation that one attorney agrees to pay another. Those attorneys must address compensation and any refund directly under their separate agreement.
Contact
Send a nonconfidential subscription or fixed platform-charge question to admin@coveragecases.com with the account email, charge date, and relevant CoverageCases receipt or posting reference. Do not send complete payment credentials, privileged communications, or confidential case files.
Posting Fee Terms
Exact fee and authorization
A posting attorney must authorize the exact fixed CoverageCases posting fee shown before publication: $5.00 standard when the hearing is more than 48 hours away; $9.00 when it is within 48 hours but more than 24 hours away; $15.00 when it is within 24 hours but not on the same courthouse-local calendar day; or $25.00 when it is on that same courthouse-local calendar day. The server classifies urgency from the hearing start, publication time, and courthouse time zone and revalidates the current fixed-price schedule before Checkout and publication.
The applicable amount replaces [AMOUNT] in the following authorization before payment:
One-time posting fee: $[AMOUNT]. This is a one-time charge for publishing this coverage request on CoverageCases. The charge does not guarantee that another attorney will accept the request or that any particular result will occur. This fee is paid to CoverageCases for use of the platform. It is not compensation for the covering attorney, a referral fee, a placement fee, a percentage of legal fees, or compensation based on the outcome of a matter. Compensation owed to a covering attorney is separate and must be agreed upon directly between the attorneys. Once the coverage request is successfully published, the posting fee is nonrefundable except for a duplicate charge, a CoverageCases technical failure that prevents publication, another circumstance expressly covered by the Refund Policy, or as required by law. By clicking ‘Pay $[AMOUNT] and Publish,’ you authorize this one-time charge, accept the Posting Fee Terms and applicable Coverage Assignment Terms, and acknowledge the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy.
Separate compensation and platform limitations
CoverageCases provides technology that allows attorneys to locate and communicate with other attorneys concerning temporary coverage of existing client matters. CoverageCases is not a law firm, does not provide legal services, does not establish an attorney-client relationship, and does not refer prospective clients, recommend or rank attorneys, or determine whether an attorney is appropriate for a particular matter.
CoverageCases charges only the separately disclosed fixed platform fees. CoverageCases does not receive a percentage of attorney compensation, client legal fees, recoveries, settlements, or results.
Requesting and covering attorneys are independently responsible for structuring their compensation in compliance with applicable professional rules, including requirements governing divisions of fees between lawyers in different firms. CoverageCases does not determine whether a particular payment arrangement constitutes a division of legal fees.
