Separate fixed charges for publishing coverage requests, not attorney compensation.
Exact fee and authorization
A posting attorney must authorize the exact fixed CoverageCases posting fee shown before publication: $5.00 standard when the hearing is more than 48 hours away; $9.00 when it is within 48 hours but more than 24 hours away; $15.00 when it is within 24 hours but not on the same courthouse-local calendar day; or $25.00 when it is on that same courthouse-local calendar day. The server classifies urgency from the hearing start, publication time, and courthouse time zone and revalidates the current fixed-price schedule before Checkout and publication.
The applicable amount replaces [AMOUNT] in the following authorization before payment:
One-time posting fee: $[AMOUNT]. This is a one-time charge for publishing this coverage request on CoverageCases. The charge does not guarantee that another attorney will accept the request or that any particular result will occur. This fee is paid to CoverageCases for use of the platform. It is not compensation for the covering attorney, a referral fee, a placement fee, a percentage of legal fees, or compensation based on the outcome of a matter. Compensation owed to a covering attorney is separate and must be agreed upon directly between the attorneys. Once the coverage request is successfully published, the posting fee is nonrefundable except for a duplicate charge, a CoverageCases technical failure that prevents publication, another circumstance expressly covered by the Refund Policy, or as required by law. By clicking ‘Pay $[AMOUNT] and Publish,’ you authorize this one-time charge, accept the Posting Fee Terms and applicable Coverage Assignment Terms, and acknowledge the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy.
Separate compensation and platform limitations
CoverageCases provides technology that allows attorneys to locate and communicate with other attorneys concerning temporary coverage of existing client matters. CoverageCases is not a law firm, does not provide legal services, does not establish an attorney-client relationship, and does not refer prospective clients, recommend or rank attorneys, or determine whether an attorney is appropriate for a particular matter.
CoverageCases charges only the separately disclosed fixed platform fees. CoverageCases does not receive a percentage of attorney compensation, client legal fees, recoveries, settlements, or results.
Requesting and covering attorneys are independently responsible for structuring their compensation in compliance with applicable professional rules, including requirements governing divisions of fees between lawyers in different firms. CoverageCases does not determine whether a particular payment arrangement constitutes a division of legal fees.
